Selepe Phetla—Stress is Bad

Debt=bad

Proverbs 22:7 The rich rule over the poor and the borrower is slave to the lender

Debt constrains our choices in life; it causes stress & anxiety

It is something we put on ourselves. What is not okay is not to have a plan to get out of debt.

Three prayers we need to pray:

  1. God give me Self-control.

Proverbs 25:28 Like a city with walls that are broken through is a man who lacks self-control.

Reasons for debt ( 1 John 2: 15–17)

Lack of contentment ( 1Timothy 6: 6–10)

Wrong definition of success (Matthew 16:26)

Current gratification (Psalm 37: 1–7)

Presumption of what the future holds (James 4: 13‐15)

2. God give me understanding.

Hosea 4:6; Isaiah 5:13 get knowledge and understanding to manage your finances.

3. God give Me a Plan

Psalm 23 paints God as our shepherd—guiding, providing, and protecting. In Jesus, the Good Shepherd, we find the same care. Choose godly community over isolation, grow through mentorship, and live to reflect his love in a world that needs it daily, faithfully.

Jesus, the Bread of Life, meets our deepest needs. We chase power, comfort, and distractions, yet still feel empty. True satisfaction is found in him alone. Feed your soul daily with God’s Word before anything else, and let him be your centre.
